Take a four-tonne monster truck out into a huge open valley of dirt roads, mud pits, a river ford, forests, jumps and mountains you can really climb. The truck has long-travel suspension, giant tyres and real weight: it bounces over bad road, slides in the mud, drifts on the handbrake and flies off the kickers. In Rally you race the clock through the checkpoints (each one adds time) while the weather changes every lap. In Free roam you explore for six minutes, hunting stars across the map. Crush junk cars, nail long jumps and chain flips and rolls for combo points, and use nitro to catch up. The truck carries seven weapons - a minigun, rockets, homing missiles, a mortar, a flamethrower, a shockwave and an airstrike - to take on the gun turrets that shoot back and to blow up explosive barrels.

How to play Monster Truck

Monster Truck Offroad puts you in a four-tonne truck with giant tyres in a huge open valley. The truck is a real physics body on long springs: it dips under braking, leans in turns, loses grip in mud and snow and tumbles if you land it badly. Rally mode is a race against the clock through twelve checkpoints on a bumpy dirt road that has jumps, whoops, mud pits and a river ford, with new weather each lap. Free roam lets you drive anywhere, climb the hills and hunt stars. Crushing cars, long jumps, flips and rolls all score, and chaining them raises a combo multiplier.

W / S (or the up and down arrows) for gas, brake and reverse; A / D to steer
Space is the handbrake for drifting, Shift is nitro
F or left-click fires the weapon; 1-7, E or the mouse wheel choose it (minigun, rockets, homing missiles, mortar, flamethrower, shockwave, airstrike)
In the air W / S flip the truck and A / D roll it - land on your wheels for points
R puts you back on the road (costs 5 seconds), C changes the camera, P pauses, T changes the paint
Touch: on-screen arrows, GAS and BRAKE pedals, NITRO, DRIFT and RESET buttons

Tips for a higher score

Hold the handbrake (Space) for a second while turning to slide round tight corners, then let go and use the gas to straighten out.
Ease off before a jump, keep the truck straight on the ramp and tap W or S in the air to level it out. Land with all four wheels for a smooth-landing bonus.
Press W (nose down) or S (nose up) for a long moment in the air for a flip. Land on the wheels to score it, and flips refill the nitro.
Mud and water slow you down a lot and snow is slippery: steer round them or keep the speed up and the nose straight.
Driving over a pickup star in Rally adds six seconds, so a short detour for a star can be worth the time.
Turrets shoot back: keep moving, use hills for cover and take them out from range with rockets or the mortar. Every one you destroy adds three seconds and drops ammunition.
Shoot the red barrels near a turret to set off a chain of explosions, and use the shockwave to knock down incoming fire.
