Take command of a utility helicopter with a real rotor model. Every sortie is a different job: land beside survivors and fly them to the hospital, scoop water from a lake and put out forest fires with the bucket, or hunt down enemy trucks, tanks and anti-air guns with your minigun and rockets. Land on the base helipad to refuel, repair and rearm. In Assisted mode the helicopter holds its height and levels itself; in Pilot mode you fly the collective and cyclic yourself.
How to play Chopper Ops
Chopper Ops is a 3D helicopter game with three kinds of mission. In a rescue you land next to survivors and carry them to the hospital pad. In a firefight you hover over a lake to fill your bucket and drop the water on forest fires. In a strike you hunt enemy trucks, tanks and anti-air guns with a minigun and rockets. Fuel, ammunition and armour are all limited, and the base helipad restores them.
- W / S tilt forward and back, A / D slide left and right, Q / E turn
- R / F climb and descend, Space minigun, X rockets, B water drop
- C camera, P pause, I invert pitch
- Touch: drag the left side to move, slider for climb, buttons for weapons
Tips for a higher score
- Ease the stick, not the whole way: a gentle tilt gives smooth speed, and letting go brings the helicopter back to a hover.
- Land gently on the pad or on flat ground; sinking faster than a few metres per second damages the helicopter.
- For fires, fill the bucket low over the water, then drop it from under 60 metres so the water lands on the flames.
- Anti-air guns hurt: strike them first from the side, and keep moving and low behind the hills.
- When fuel or armour runs low, return to the base pad and land to refuel and rearm.
